The Opportunity
Maple Leaf Marinas (“MLM”) is the largest owner and operator of marinas, marine resorts, and boat dealerships in Canada. MLM’s fast growing portfolio comprises 14 locations throughout the Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay and Muskoka Regions.
We are seeking an Expediter to join our team at Gordon Bay Marine.
This is a full-time position with competitive pay and potential for benefits package.
Position Overview:
The Expediter is the heart of the system, they prep boats, sleds, ATV’s, etc. through the system and keeps the marina flowing when they see backups coming down the line. They help the technicians and Customer service representatives by running parts, moving units, taking information and keeping quality control in check. The expediter must have critical forward thinking, good problem-solving skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment / under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tracking and Monitoring:
- Closely monitoring the progress of the service schedule
- Tracking boat location in relation to the service schedule, and facilitating boat movement to the technicians and other departments.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Communicating with techs on repair status and service schedule
- Ensuring parts department has required parts and parts are located, pulled ready for repair, and distributing to the technician.
- Maintaining clear and open lines of communication.
- Fostering strong internal communication within departments.
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Identifying and resolving potential delays or disruptions.
- Troubleshooting issues with delivery of boats to either the customer or technician
- Addressing discrepancies in parts orders for repair orders
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate records of boat location within the repair process
Qualifications:
Education:
- A high school diploma or GED is generally the minimum requirement.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities is essential.
- Excellent communication skills: Both verbal and written communication are crucial for interacting with internal teams.
- Problem-solving skills: Expeditors must be able to identify and resolve potential delays and disruptions.
- Attention to detail: Accuracy is important for tracking boat location
- Computer proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Interpersonal skills: The ability to build and maintain relationships with others is important for effective collaboration.
