Helpful Tips to Prepare for Your Rendezvous
Heading out on the water with us? Here's how to make sure you're ready for a smooth and enjoyable journey:
Inspect your vessel from bow to stern to ensure everything is in working order before departure. It is also important to prepare for the unexpected by bringing along essential spares such as:
– Impellers
– Belts
– Water pump
– Motor oil
– Spare propeller
Have your boat fully fueled and serviced before the start of the Rendezvous. We recommend fueling up at least a day or two ahead of departure. Schedule any service work well in advance to ensure your boat is water-ready for the voyage.
Always travel with a full tank. Take every opportunity to refuel along the way—and always stay with your boat while it’s being fueled. During the trip, the Captains will provide information about fueling stations but to be pro-active, know your fuel range, capacity, and plan to stop when the option is available.
During trips that are longer than 4 days, we stop at ports along the way for the night. Please use these stops to stock up on food, grab ice, and do laundry.
Ensure your anchor and line are ready to hold your vessel securely. Your anchor should be safely stowed when underway, and it's a good idea to carry a spare 100’ line just in case.
We'll be using the VHF radio to communicate and share trip updates. We will advise the channel upon arrival. Please make sure your radio is operational before leaving the dock.
Double-check that your vessel meets all Canadian Coast Guard safety requirements and that all required safety gear is on board and accessible.
If you place a pie plate around any line connected to shore, it will prevent rodents and other small animals from traveling down the rope and onto your boat.
