As a Marine Dealer Yard Foreman, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations and activities within our marine dealership yard. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, coordinating the activities of the yard team, and ensuring efficient workflow in handling boats, equipment, and inventory. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a deep understanding of marine dealership operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the yard team, including boat handlers, technicians, and support staff.
- Coordinate and prioritize daily activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of tasks.
- Oversee the movement, storage, and maintenance of boats, trailers, and other marine equipment within the yard.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, track boat locations, and ensure proper storage and security procedures are followed.
- Coordinate the preparation of boats for display, including cleaning, detailing, and arranging them in an appealing manner.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure boats and equipment are maintained in good condition and comply with safety standards.
- Collaborate with sales and service departments to ensure smooth coordination of boat deliveries, pick-ups, and service requests.
- Train and mentor yard personnel, providing guidance on safe handling practices, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement measures to enhance yard operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a marine dealership or boatyard environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of proper boat handling techniques, storage procedures, and maintenance practices.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and proficiency in using computer software for recordkeeping and reporting.
- Understanding of safety regulations and practices related to marine operations.
- Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and ensure efficient workflow.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and occasional weekend or extended hours.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate various types of marine equipment and vehicles safely.
