Position Overview:
This is a hybrid position; we prefer candidates to be in the Midland/Georgian Bay area. Proximity is important for traveling to the head office as needed, and to the marinas for events and content collection, particularly during the peak season.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, as the Social Media & Graphic Design Specialist, you will play a crucial role in translating our marketing strategies into compelling visual and digital content for 20 marinas and the parent company, MLM. This role demands a solid understanding of social media platforms, their dynamics, and metrics, along with exceptional graphic design skills.
You will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing engaging marketing campaigns across various social media and digital communication platforms, while ensuring alignment with our brand standards and the unique identities of each marina. The position also takes on the responsibility of attending marina events to capture content, turning it into engaging and on-trend posts and email communications.
The position is fast-paced, and you can expect to work on numerous projects at one time.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Expertise:
- Lead the creation and execution of social media campaigns across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.) for 20 marinas plus parent company, MLM
- Create social media strategies based on goals and customer base; make recommendations on key audiences, demographics, target areas for greatest results
- Schedule social media content for 20 social media accounts using Later.com. Each marina has unique budget per promotion
- Capture/build content at the marinas with camera phone and digital camera, including events, boat sales/inventory, sale rep social videos, etc.
- Build up content library to use during the off season
- Edit reels/video with a mix of CapCut and Adobe Premier
Graphic Design - Content Creation:
- Develop and design a wide range of marketing materials, including graphics, banners, social media posts, email communications and promotional materials.
- Create, proofread, and edit copy for various digital marketing channels, including Constant Contact, ensuring a consistent voice
- Stay up to date with upcoming marina events, ensuring marinas have all required marketing materials (posters, e-blasts, social, etc.)
- Ensure all designs adhere to brand standards and reflect the unique personalities of each marina
- Create/schedule paid Facebook campaigns with Facebook Business Manager and/or Later
- Respond to direct messages and send referrals to accurate marinas/locations
- Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, engagement, and audience feedback. Make recommendations to the Director of Marketing and Marinas as needed for campaign changes
- Travel between marina locations for content collection
Event Coverage:
- Ability to attend marina events throughout the week and on weekends during peak season to capture high-quality content, including photos and videos
- Create and post engaging content in real-time or shortly after events to drive engagement and maintain brand presence
Brand Alignment:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all marinas and the parent company
- Adapt creative materials to suit the distinctive characteristics of each marina while maintaining overall brand coherence
Trend Analysis & Innovation:
- Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant and knowledge base up to date
- Experiment with new content formats and strategies to enhance audience engagement and reach
Front End Website Support:
- Create/edit video content when needed for marina and MLM website(s)
- Website maintenance and audit support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field
- Min of 4 years proven experience in social media and graphic design, preferably in a similar industry
- Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier, CapCut, and Canva
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective best practices as well as analyzing social media metrics
- Proficiency with Constant Contact and other digital communication platforms
- Experience with capturing photo/video content; experience with a DSLR camera
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required, during peak season (May through October)
- Ability to travel around Central Ontario to various marina events
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a very fast paced environment
- A portfolio showcasing a range of design work and successful social media campaigns is required.
- Experience with project management software, Asana, is an asset
