Accounting Clerk

THE POSITION:

Maple Leaf Marinas, one of Canada’s largest owners and operators of marinas and marine resort properties, is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team.  The successful candidate would be assigned a group of locations and be responsible for the accounting and financial analysis for that marina portfolio.  This position will be based at the Maple Leaf Marinas Head Office located in Midland, Ontario, and will report to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the month-end close for the marina portfolio
  • Oversee and assist with monthly account reconciliations
  • Analyze results and report on variances
  • Maintain general ledgers and chart of accounts
  • Monthly Manager reporting and ad hoc financial statements
  • Recommend enhancements to internal controls as required
  • Other projects as deemed necessary
  • Travel to Marinas occasionally for support (Northern Georgian Bay/Muskoka area)
  • Work closely with, and provide support to, the marina location accounting managers

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with LightSpeed and Dock Master accounting software would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Team player

Education & Experience

  • Post Secondary education in the field of Accounting/Finance
