Position: Retail Manager

Location: Gordon Bay Marine – MacTier, Ontario

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our retail department. The Retail Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our retail operations, maintaining inventory levels, optimizing sales performance, and providing leadership to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Activities During Busy Periods:

• Ensure accurate daily cash balances.
• Monitor and adjust staffing levels to meet operational demands across different areas (store, fuel).
• Manage rental bookings and manifests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Operate POS systems during peak hours.
• Provide assistance to parts and sales representatives in accessory selection and order processing.
• Effectively handle customer interactions from greeting to final delivery of products.
• Maintain and organize parts stock, ensuring timely maintenance.
• Offer assistance and advice to the service department as required.

Weekly Activities:

• Conduct regular reviews of store inventories versus sales to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Identify items for reorder that are not on regular repurchase programs.
• Follow up with post-delivery clients and lost leads to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
• Monitor manufacturer rebates and ensure prompt payouts.
• Generate and analyze sales reports to assess performance and inform decision-making.

Monthly Activities:

• Generate vendor reports to evaluate parts value by category.
• Set goals for the upcoming period and devise promotions to align with objectives.
• Update major unit inventory to reflect current manufacturer promotions.
• Coordinate with the Marketing department on initiatives related to powersports and store inventory.
• Review wholesale programs to identify major unit inventory required for future allocation.

Annual Stocking Orders:

• Review annual volume consumption reports to inform stocking decisions.
• Identify and address early/mid-season out-of-stock items.
• Review booking terms, discounts, and freight allowances to optimize purchasing decisions.
• Collaborate with sales representatives to create comprehensive annual stocking orders.

Reports and Management:

• Utilize various reports including parts consumption, parts movement, sales, vendor inventory, and parts gross margin reports to inform decision-making.
• Supervise and manage a team of 8 seasonal students, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.

Rental Information and Agreements:

• Oversee rental bookings and manifests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a retail management role, preferably within the marine or powersports industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of rental operations and agreements is desirable.
• Available to work weekends as needed throughout seasonal period.
